Burns Vision Centre plans to resume routine eye care on June 8th. We look forward to seeing our patients, however with some changes.
All entry to our office (including coming in to look for your next stylish frame) requires an appointment ahead of time. Please phone 902-625-2064 or 1-877-669-6683 if you would like to be added to the wait-list for an eye exam or schedule an appointment for assistance with glasses.
We are seeing fewer patients per hour to aid in social distancing and sanitizing between patients. To accommodate patients requiring eye exams, we will be working longer hours. There still may be a wait as patients previously scheduled in March, April, and May, as well as those with urgent eye health concerns will be prioritized. We appreciate your patience!
Our St-Joseph-du-Moine office will be operating on a limited schedule within the next few weeks. Sooner appointments may be available in Port Hawkesbury.
Unfortunately, our Baddeck clinic is too small to provide safe distancing at this time. We plan to reassess social distancing requirements in September. If you are usually seen at this clinic, we welcome you to book your visit for an exam or eyewear services at our Port Hawkesbury office.
We ask each patient to come in alone, with the exception of minors and those requiring physical assistance who are welcome to bring one guardian/helper.
Everybody must wear a mask and use the provided hand sanitizer upon entry. Our helpful staff & signs will show you the way!
Our clinic times & locations will be modified as this public health crisis evolves and we will provide updates regularly.
We look forward to seeing your friendly (and masked!) faces in the near future!
If you have an urgent eye related issue one of our staff members will be answering calls from 10am-3pm, Monday-Friday in an attempt to try and lessen the burden on emergency rooms in hospitals. You can reach them by calling 902-625-2065
Some examples of symptoms/situations that require urgent care:
- 1)Flashes of light/new onset floaters
- 2)Sudden changes in vision
- 3)Foreign body
- 4)Ocular pain/severe light sensitivity
- 5)Sudden onset double vision/drooping eyelid
*Note: this list is not comprehensive – if you have any concerns please call our office for guidance.
For those waiting on spectacles/contact lenses we will still be advising patients upon their arrival and they will be given the opportunity to acquire these items in a safe and sanitary manor on specific days set by our staff. We will be in touch with you.
For any non-emergent inquiries please contact us via email: [email protected]
*Reminder that any individual showing any flu-like symptoms or anyone who has traveled internationally/has been around someone who has traveled internationally should be in self-isolation for 14 days with no symptoms before entering any public spaces. If there is an ocular emergency involving these individuals it is crucial that this information be shared before being seen or entering the premises.*
Thank you for your patience with us through all of this. Stay safe, everyone.
